HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – An effort to help young adults with special needs become productive members of the community is getting a financial boost.
“Stir it Up Bakery” won a 5×5 startup entrepreneurial competition held in conjunction with Lakeshore Advantage and Start Garden. It took a five thousand-dollar prize in a final five-minute presentation with four other competitors before a five-person panel of business leaders at CityVu Events in the City Flats Hotel. The five finalists emerged from 25 proposals that were voted on in an on-line competition that was held from June 23rd through July 14th, with more than 1450 votes cast by the general public.
In addition, past winners of the 5×5 competition presented updates on their businesses that were bolstered by similar five thousand-dollar startup awards. Holland SmartZone also previewed programming created in partnership with the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce to help support high-tech, high-growth entrepreneurs.
