HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – On a unanimous vote, Holland City Council approved an ordinance that will allow the city to revoke a hotel’s license if a situation warrants it.
The vote comes on the heels of high-profile problems at the Wooden Shoe Motel and the Economy Inn in recent years. Director of Community and Neighborhood Services Joel Dye says that with the new laws, a hotel’s license can be immediately suspended for violations.
Major violations include:
Anything that poses a risk to health and safety of the occupants.
Minor violations include:
Any violation of the city code. A minor violation that has not been fixed within 30 days.
A hotel’s licenses can also be suspended for three separate violations within six months whether they are major or minor and three of more instances of prohibited conduct in six months.
The news rules are in effect immediately.
