HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It’s a mixed bag of news coming from Holland City Hall involving downtown street work.
Phase A of the 9th Street renovation process, from River to Lincoln avenues, is “nearly complete,” according to city officials, with the exception of some brick paver work, sprinkling, landscaping and final course of asphalt paving. A statement on the city’s website said that the “recent lack of output from the brick paver subcontractor has been discussed in some detail and we expect to see improvements in output this week.” Phase B, which includes the closing of 9th Street from River to Pine avenues, has been underway since July 8th and “will continue for the next couple of weeks.”
City officials also said that CSX will remove and replace the Hamilton Spur crossing on 8th Street just west of Fairbanks Avenue, meaning a week-long closure of 8th Street to begin on August 5th. They added that this would be a good time to work on one part of Phase C of the 9th Street project, from Fairbanks to the 8th Street junction.
Plans for an October 15th completion of the entire 9th Street effort are still on target.
