HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – When the Ottawa County Fair opens you’ll have a chance to have some lighthearted fun with local law enforcement all for a great cause.
It’s the “Dunk A Cop…Dunk A Champ” event where Police Officers, EMT’s and Champs who are area coaches and athletes, will participate in the fun benefiting Special Olympics Area 12 which serves Ottawa and Allegan counties.
Mark Dalman, Area Director tells WHTC news that proceeds will help send two area athletes to Austria for the World Winter Games. Both athletes are in their mid 20’s and hail from Grand Haven. Steve Rouiller and Nikota Easterling both won gold in the State Olympics for cross country skiing and were picked to head to the Winter Games.
“Our law enforcement are strong supporters of Special Olympics Programs and statewide raise well over $1 million dollars every year. We love our police officers and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them” says Dalman.
The Ottawa County Fair runs July 25-30, 2016. The dunk tank will be on the fairgrounds Monday through Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 1-9 p.m. $1.00 buys you one softball and $5.00 for 6 softballs.
All proceeds from the event will support Special Olympics Area 12.
