LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder has tabbed two Allegan County men to serve on state commissions.
The acting chairman of the Match-E-be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, Ed Pigeon of Hopkins, is joining the Unarmed Combat Commission. The 11-member panel, housed within the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, oversees pro boxing and mixed martial arts events. Pigeon will represent individuals with experience, knowledge or background in MMA and will serve a four-year term through June of 2020.
Wayne Leep of Martin, who owns and operates County Line Potato Farms, was reappointed to the state Potato Industry Commission, which fosters and promotes the economically sustainable potato industry. Leep, who will represent chip growers for a three-year term through the middle of 2019, has been a farmer for 29 years and has over 13 hundred acres of potatoes and hay.
The state Senate has to sign off on both of these appointments.
