HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – We’ll find out who Donald Trump will pick as his running mate Friday, July 14.
Trump will make the announcement from New York City. There is speculation that the three candidates on Trump’s short list include New Jersey Governor Chris Christie who is heading Trump’s transition team, Indiana Governor Mike Pence and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Zeeland Congressman Bill Huizenga told WHTC news that his VP choice is unlike most years and will have a slightly more important impact on the Presidential race.
“On the Republican side, Donald Trump has a mixed reputation among Republicans and picking someone like Mike Pence or Gingrich who has more standing within the conservatives, I think could affect that and influence the vote. In my mind those are the two leading candidates and a New York/NewJersey combination will be harder to sell to the country” Huizenga says.
WHTC will carry the announcement at 11 a.m. tomorrow, July 14.
The Republican National Convention starts Monday in Cleveland.
