HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The issue of substandard lodging is something that the Holland City Council apparently wants to tackle head on.
The first review and discussion on the matter regarding licensing and oversight of hotels and motels came late last month, and during Wednesday night’s work-study session, council looked at provisions that would, in part, establish standards of maintenance, as well as a process to suspend or revoke public lodging licenses if those standards aren’t met. High-profile problems at the Wooden Shoe Motel and the Economy Inn in recent years has led many to ask Tulip City leaders for more teeth in current municipal regulations
