HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 34-year-old Holland man is spending the Independence Day holiday behind bars for allegedly being behind a couple of crimes over the weekend.
Around 5:30 PM on Saturday, Public Safety officers were dispatched to a store in the 400 block of Washington Avenue on a report that a clerk had been held up at knife point and that the suspect had pedal away from the scene. The description of the suspect, along with viewing surveillance video, showed that the man was also involved in a larceny the day before.
Cross checking their data with fellow officers and deputies at the Ottawa County Jail, several officers and deputies confirmed the suspect’s identity. A person that matched the description of the suspect was spotted by a Public Safety officer riding a bike on Ottawa Avenue. An arrest was made without incident. Some of the money taken in the store robbery was recovered.
The suspect remains held pending a scheduled Tuesday arraignment in Holland District Court on counts of armed robbery and larceny, along with charges from an unrelated warrant. The investigation into the matter continues.
