CHICAGO (WHTC) – Travelers who take the Pere Marquette passenger train service from Grand Rapids to Chicago and back in July are in for a treat.
Amtrak officials say that, for no extra charge, the famed “Ocean View” dome lounge car will be operated on the line that makes stops twice daily in Holland. The only such car in the entire Amtrak fleet, it will head east from Chicago on Thursday nights; be part of round trips on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; and then return to the Windy City on Monday mornings. This began this past Thursday and will run for the next three weekends.
The Great Dome Car was built for the Great Northern Railway in 1955.
