WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – Two people, including a 17-year-old Hamilton High School student as reported by WOOD TV 8, were killed in a crash early Friday June 10, in West Olive.
A resident heard a loud noise outside of her house and called police after discovering the car had crashed in her lawn. The car was split into four pieces.
According to Sgt. Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Jordon Gillespie, 22, of Holland and Nichole Rector, 17, of Holland were in Gillespie’s 1999 Hyundai Elantra and had been westbound on Stanton Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the roadway shortly after crossing 120th Avenue and and struck a tree in the front yard of 12070 Stanton Street in West Olive.
Upon arrival deputies found the occupants in the vehicle deceased.
At this time investigators are still unsure of who was driving the vehicle and seatbelt use in unknown.
