Preliminary State Child Lead Level Numbers Released

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services released provisional 2015 statewide blood lead level data that indicated 3.4 percent of children under six that were tested last year had elevated marks of equal to or greater than five micrograms per deciliter. Lenawee County had the highest number at 10 percent, while Detroit was at 7.5 and Genesee County, which includes Flint, was at 2.3 percent. Locally, Allegan County stood at 3.6 percent while Ottawa County was at 1.9 percent; Holland’s mark was 3.7, Holland’s North Side was 2.3, and Fennville was at four percent even.
