HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland City Council has approved a nearly quarter-million-dollar contract with Edgewater Resources and other consultants for the design work in the $16.5 million Civic Center project with a 7-0 vote.
Assistant City Manager Matt VanDyken told WHTC News that the project could start in February of 2017 and July of 2018 is a tentative opening date for the Civic Center. There have been several meetings since March on the vision of the Civic Center and a public hearing is set for July 6, 2016.
The Civic Center will be closed during Tulip Time 2017 and a portion of the facility could be open for Tulip Time 2018. Tulip Time’s offices could be moving into the Civic center as well.
The city is now looking for donations to the tune of $3.5 million and that is combined with a $2 million gift from the Heeringa family.
