GRANDVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Lakeshore residents who commute to Grand Rapids via I-196 will need to be aware of a long-term road reconstruction project beginning soon just east of the Ottawa-Kent county line.
Starting on Monday, state Department of Transportation contractors will close the ramp from the westbound Gerald R. Ford Freeway to M-11 28th Street, along with improving the highway’s bridges over the Kent Trails path and Butterworth Street east of that junction. There will also be single-lane closures in both directions on I-196 in connection with the project on nights and weekends.
The 1.7 million-dollar project is slated to run through September 1st.
