HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Holland man killed in a crash as he fled a traffic stop has been identified by police.
Jeremy Dorell Hudson, 33 was ejected and died on the scene and was not wearing his seatbelt. He was driving on a suspended/revolked license as well.
The incident started when police attempted to stop a red SUV that exited the Stratford Way apartments near 12th Street, going too fast. When the officer attempted a traffic stop near Cypress Avenue and 12th Street, the SUV fled, going north. The chase then ensued.
The SUV approached stopped traffic on 8th Street at U.S. 31 and entered the eastbound lanes to go around vehicles stopped at a red light. The SUV then collided with a 2014 Ford Taurus driven by Nicole Kupres, 21, of Fennville. The SUV then struck a southbound 2015 Silverado driven by Kyle Barton 41, of Holland.
Kupres and Barton received minor injuries. The two passengers in Barton’s vehicle were Laura Barton, 41 of Holland who received minor injures was treated at Zeeland Community Hospital and a three-year-old child who was properly restrained in a child restraint seat, was not injured.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident.
