HOLLAND, I (WHTC) – The fate of the Civic Center is in the hands of Holland City Council members and they should have something finalized this week.
A special study session will take place Tuesday, May 24, 2016 regarding the concept design for the Civic Center, but it could be June before a vote on the concept.
Updated estimates on the concept plan have the project costing close to $16.3 million.
The city is looking at two grants, tax Increment financing as well as corporate funding. Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Mike Tretheway told WHTC Morning News that the renovation being done around the Civic Center will be a great boost to the city. GDK is on board to do the renovation. Trethewey says everything going west toward to the water will make for an interesting dynamic with the 100 or more apartments to be built.
The special study session starts at 5:30 p.m. at Holland City Hall.
