5/23 Monday: Knickerbocker Spring Film Series- a la vie- French Film about Helen, Rose and Lili have survived the Holocaust and have never seen each other since the war has ended. In 1960, they meet again in Berck, France. 5/26 Thursday: Bell’s Tap Takeover at Hops at 84 East- Bell’s Brewery of Kalamazoo is taking over the taps at Hops! This will be one of the largest Bell’s takeovers in Michigan history! 30+ taps of great craft beer from Bell’s will be flowing as almost half of Hops’ taps will sport the famililar “bone & ball” from one of our favorite breweries. Many pub-only and special beers will be offered, alongside some of your Bell’s favorites. 84 East Eighth Street, Holland; 11am until 12 pm (midnight).
5/27 Friday: Bigfoot Buffalo – Live Music at New Holland Brewing Company- Bigfoot Buffalo is a Grand Rapids, Michigan band with refreshing tunes with a down home feel, and live performances that are full of energy, passion, and dynamic excitement. The band fuses their musical roots of Folk, Rock, Americana, Jam, Funk, Bluegrass, Blues, and Country to form a truly unique sound. The members consist of Kyle Brown on guitar and vocals, Michael Serota on Bass, Landon Knoppers on keyboards, and Charlie Merkel on drums & vocals. Their repertoire ranges from upbeat jamgrass inspired tunes to melancholy ballads, from reinvented covers to dynamic psychedelic escapades. Referred to by John Sinkevics (Local Spins) as “an eclectic jam band” with “powerful songs, which are featured on the band’s self-titled debut album.” Their debut LP was released in August of 2015 and they’ve since established themselves as a West Michigan staple. 66 East Eighth Street, Holland; 10pm to 1am; Free.
5/28 Saturday: Gardening in the Shade with Cathy at Jonker’s Garden- Do you know the difference between dappled shade and full shade? How about between wet shade and dry shade? Learn how all shade is not equal, and how to choose plant varieties that will thrive in these different types of shade. Presented by Cathy Vandermeer, who is a Master Gardener, has certifications from the National/Michigan Garden Clubs as a Master Landscape Design Consultant, and has been gardening in the shade for most of her gardening life.
