GRAND HAVEN (WKZO-AM) — Grand Haven Public Safety is looking for the parents of a baby dropped off at North Ottawa Community Hospital.
Investigators say they want to make sure the newborn, which arrived at the hospital after 6 p.m. last Friday, wasn’t abducted or abandoned.
Michigan’s Safe Haven Law allows parents to forfeit children under three days old to personnel at emergency facilities with no questions asked, but police say a confidential interview is now required because the infant was dropped off by a friend of the mother.
Those with more information are urged to contact the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety at (616) 842-3460.
The child is said to be doing fine.
