HOLLAND (WHTC) — Two West Olive residents were hurt in a three-car crash Thursday afternoon (May 12, 2016) in Grand Haven Twp., according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Buter
The crash happened when West Olive resident Ethan King, 17, was driving his 1999 Toyota 4Runner south on Lakeshore Drive near Lincoln Street. He failed to see a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica ahead of him, driven by Grand Haven resident Alexandra Wexall, 16, was stopped for traffic, waiting to turn east on Lincoln, Buter said.
The impact of the crash sent King’s car into a head-on crash with a northbound 2012 Toyota Tacoma, driven by West Olive resident Alexey Nikitin, 46.
Nikitin’s front-seat passenger, Liudmyla Svyryd, 31, also of West Olive, was taken by AMR Ambulance to Hackley Hospital where she was listed in serious condition, Buter said. Nikitin suffered minor injuries. All those involved had been wearing seatbelts, he said.
King was “cited for failing to stop in an assured clear distance,” Buter said.
