HOLLAND (WHTC) — A four car crash at U.S. 31 and Riley Street sent a Zeeland man to Holland Hospital Thursday morning, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. David VanderPloeg.
The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. when traffic lights were flashing red for those on Riley and yellow for those on U.S. 31, VenderPloeg said.
Zeeland resident Juan Trevino, 27, at the wheel of a Chevy Silverado, attempted to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 but did not yield to the Toyota Corolla headed north on the highway, driven by Wayland resident Jon Schafer, 27.
The impact rolled Trevino’s car, which also stuck the vehicle driven by Zeeland resident Patricia Vanden Heuvel, 54. Schafer’s vehicle struck 29-year-old Hamilton resident Jessica Bushee’s vehicle.
Trevino was taken by AMR Ambulance to Holland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; Schafer declined treatment at the scene for what VanderPloeg said was “minor injuries.” Vanden Huevel and Bushee were not injured, VanderPloeg said.
