HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Kids had the chance to “travel” through the Netherlands this past weekend at Tulip Time’s Kinderplaats.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoon starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m., children and their families got to enjoy Kinderplaats, which translates to “Kid’s Place” in the Dutch language.
During this event, kids learned about Dutch culture, history and heritage through activities, games and crafts. One new aspect of Kinderplaats this year was the addition of a ‘tour’ of Netherlands.
Kids received a ‘passport’ (called a Province Pass) that helps them learn what is special about each of the Netherlands’ 12 Provinces. After collecting stickers from each of the Provinces they visited around Kollen Park, they headed back to the Travel Hub (the picnic area next to the playground of the park) to get their final certification stamp and got registered to win a free bike.
Also at Kinderplaats, attendees enjoyed food vendors, local business booths that feature Dutch-themed activities, and carnival rides.
The 2016 Tulip Time Festival runs through Saturday.
