HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland has been named as one of the 10 Best Cities for Families in 2016 by Livability.com.
Holland comes in 4th place out of 10 for boasting a strong sense of community, low cost of living and a full menu of family-friendly activities. According to Livability.com, the city also undergoes all four seasons, each bringing its own recreational opportunities, including the renowned Tulip Time Festival in the spring. The Holland Public Schools district receives high marks from parents every year.
To select these cities, the editors crunched the data, much as any parent would do when deciding on a great place to put down roots. They looked at the quality of schools, crime rate, and measures of the quality of healthcare and economy. Points were given to communities that are walkable, diverse, and have lots of parks and active children’s sections in their libraries. Editors favored communities with shorter commute times (so working parents can spend less time on the road and more at home) and larger populations of kids with which to play.
Rockville Maryland is number one on the list with Palo Alta, California rounding out the top ten.
