HOLLAND (WHTC) — Grand Rapids resident Christian Bergsma, 34, landed in Spectrum Health Butterworth after a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.
Bergsma was riding a 2013 Kawasaki 900 on Leonard Road, east of Lindon Drive in Tallmadge Township, said Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Austin, when he noticed a companion’s bike “started to drift over” toward him.
“He swerved to avoid contact and lost contol, drove off the roadway right into a ditch,” Austin said.
Bergsma was wearing a helmet, Austin said.
An ambulance took him to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Austin said.
