SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) – A 16-year-old Spring Lake Township teenager is in serious condition after being struck on his bicycle by a vehicle in Spring Lake Township.
Nathan James of was riding his bike yesterday afternoon westbound on Cleveland Street while several witnesses as well as the driver who struck him, Mark Jacobson, 53, of Grand Haven, advised that James was riding his bicycle in and out of traffic prior to being hit.
According to Sgt. Brian Buter is with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Jacobson was driving his 2004 Ford Van on Cleveland Street when James drifted in front of him. Investigation shows that James was possibly having a medical issue and wasn’t determined to be careless during the driving of his bicycle.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time and was transported to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon.
