HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland police are investigating a crash that caused the death of a passenger in a car Monday afternoon.
Lorraine Bossenga, an 87 year old female from South Haven, was a passenger of a car driven by a 78 year old female from South Haven who attempting to turn left on to northbound M-40 from the I-196 off ramp from Eastbound I-196 and pulled out in front of a another car being driven by a 22 year old male from Holland who was travelling southbound on M-40.
Bossenga was transported to Holland Hospital by AMR and then later transferred to Spectrum Hospital where she later died of her injuries. The two drivers involved were transported to Holland Hospital by AMR with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police closed down a portion of M-40 to reconstruct the crash which occurred Monday afternoon at 1:20 pm and tied up traffic on M-40. Police have not taken any enforcement action pending a review of the investigation by the prosecutor. Traffic was diverted from northbound M-40 on to eastbound 52nd Street while south bound M-40 traffic was allowed to proceed during the investigation.
