HOLLAND (WHTC) — Michigan Dept. of Transportation closed M-40 ( Lincoln Rd) at I-196 in Allegan County after a traffic crash Monday afternoon.
UPDATED: Holland police are investigating the crash, which caused serious injury to an 87-year-old South Haven resident, according to a statement emailed to media from the Holland Department of Public Safety.
A 78-year-old female from South Haven was attempting to turn left on to northbound M-40 from the I-196 off ramp from eastbound I-196. She pulled out in front of a another car, driven by a 22-year-old Holland man, southbount on M-40.
A passenger in the South Haven driver’s car, an 87-year-old South Haven woman, was taken by AMR Ambulane to Holland Hospital and later transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment of serius injuries, according to police.
The crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. Monday and caused traffic diversions on M-40 for two hours during the clean-up and police investigation.
