FILLMORE TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 47-year-old Hamilton man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in the overnight hours of Sunday.
According to the Michigan State Police, Ronald Freeman was piloting his motorcycle southbound on 48th Street around 12:50 AM, with a SUV following behind him, when both vehicles apparently drove through a stop sign at 142nd Avenue. Just past the intersection, the SUV ran into the rear of the motorcycle, throwing the biker from the machine, and both vehicles went off of the roadway.
The unhelmeted Freeman was airlifted to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, while the unnamed SUV driver was arrested and taken to the Allegan County Jail to await arraignment in Allegan District Court on Operating while Intoxicated Causing Death charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
