HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Public Safety detectives are investigating a reported shooting that occurred outside of a Lincoln Avenue club during the early morning hours of Sunday.
Officers were called to the El Reventon Club just before 2 AM on a report of a fight there, and that a person who alleged fired a gun during the altercation had jumped into a departing limo bus. A woman who was reportedly shot stepped into another vehicle that drove off.
Officers stopped the bus on US-31 north of Lincoln Avenue, and after a 45-minute standoff, over 40 passengers exited the bus without incident. The passengers were identified and a firearm was recovered, but the alleged shooter apparently wasn’t on board. Both directions of US-31 near Lincoln Avenue were blocked off during the standoff.
Further details from Holland Public Safety officials later on Sunday morning indicated that three handguns, along with an undisclosed amount of marijuana were found in a search of the vehicle, with another weapon on the person of an occupant who had a valid CCW license.
It has been determined that the woman who was reportedly shot had actually had a medical emergency unrelated to the altercation. An unnamed 24-year-old Muskegon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant not related to the fight, with several other “persons of interest” marked by detectives.
The incident remains under investigation, and tips to policetips@cityofholland.com or to Ottawa County Silent Observer are welcome.
