HOLLAND (WHTC) — A home-invasion suspect walked away from a hospital stay, adding to his troubles Saturday. He’s now back in Ottawa County Jail.
Undersheriff Steve Kempker said Tracy William Kanary, 47, walked away from a North Ottawa Community Hospital, where he’d been taken for a medical issue on Thursday.
Kanary, 47, jailed on suspicion of home invasion and driving on a suspended license earlier this month, was still hospitalized on Friday, when 58th District Court Judge Bradley Knoll heard the initial charges and set bond at $25,700, Kempker said.
But on Saturday, Kanary allegedly stole a jacket from the hospital and left the building. Hospital officials called 911 for help. A search by Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and Grand Haven police ensued, Kempker said.
Police found Kanary just before 5 p.m. Saturday at a Grand Haven business about a mile from the hospital, near Robbins Road and 172nd Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident Kempker said, and remains in Ottawa County Jail, with a $750 cash bond.
