The Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff’s Association has a basketball game against the Detroit Lions set for May 7th.
Association President Joe Walker says the game serves two purposes: fundraising and outreach.
“Our group actually consists of corrections officers in the (Ottawa County Jail) animal contol officer clerical staff at both hq and at the adult correciotn facil we don’t relaly ge tthe oppotunity to really mingle iwht the public like the road patrollers and the detective bureau does.”
This year’s game raises money for school supplies to needy children in Ottawa County and two other local charities yet to be named, he said.
The game is set for 7:30 p.m. Sat., May 7 at Allendale High School. Kids in need get free tickets, Walker said.
