LANSING, MI (WHTC) – National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW), IS April 11- 5, 2016. This year’s NWZAW national campaign theme is: “Don’t be that driver!”
Officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the Michigan State Police (MSP), American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU),Consumers Energy, and the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA) will speak about roadway safety, and innovations in transportation at a conference Monday, April 11, 2016 in Brighton, Michigan.
In 2000, NWZAW became a national event and awareness has grown ever since, with the majority of state agencies and other organizations sponsoring high-visibility education and outreach initiatives. MDOT, along with numerous traffic safety partners across the country, supports NWZAW to raise awareness and further improve roadway safety for all workers, drivers and their passengers.
