HOLLAND (WHTC) — This year’s César Chávez Lecture is by Hope College Associate Provost and Dean Alfredo Gonzales, from 4 PM to 6-30 PM Thursday, March 31 at the Maas Auditorium, on Columbia Avenue, between 10th and 11th streets in Holland.
Gonzales will talk about Chávez’s legacy of transformational leadership in the service of community.
The annual lecture, presented by Hope College’s Office of Multicultural Education and the Latino Student Organization, honors the civil rights activist every year on his birthday.
Chávez , who died in 19-93, would have been 89 this year.
As part of the César Chávez celebration, Hope College will honor Gonzales with a food festival from 4:45 to 7 p.m. at Phelps Dining Hall, at 10th Street and Colombia Avenue. Admission is $6 per person and open to the public.
