HOLLAND (WHTC) — A big donation this week will help many of the Holland area’s low-income families with babies.
Nestlings Diaper Bank of West Michigan received 50 thousand diapers from Meijer and Huggies, which donated another 50 thousand diapers apiece to two other diaper banks and gave 10 thousand dollars to the National Diaper Bank Network. It’s the third consecutive year Nestlings has received a large diaper donation from the two companies. Nestlings’ cofounder Tania Snyer shared profuse gratitude on the non-profits Facebook page.
Nationally, one in every three families struggle to pay for paper diapers, which could lead to health problems for babies and extreme stress for their parents.
Low-income families often don’t have washing machines and dryers in their homes, so cloth diapers are out of the question.
Paper products and personal hygiene items can’t be purchased with Bridge cards or other government assistance. Nestlings serves agencies in the greater Holland area that aid financially challenged families with babies.
