ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – 53-year-old Gregory Marsman from Fennville is in Allegan County Jail awaiting charges after attacking a woman with acid.
The man has since been charged with one count each of torture, home invasion, third-degree domestic violence and for being a habitual offender. The female victim remains hospitalized.
The woman returned home on 66th Street early Wednesday and discovered her enraged boyfriend, trashing the place. She told police he immediately turned on her, knocking her to the floor and pouring acid on her face and chest. Investigators say the man made several deranged accusations and fled the home in her car. The 54-year-old victim ran across the street where neighbors rushed her to a shower to dilute the acid. She is being treated in Grand Rapids.
Marsman was arrested yesterday morning in Berrien County. Besides the torture and assault charges, he is also expected to be charged with home invasion and with being a habitual offender sometime today.
Allegan County Undersheriff Frank Baker said the suspect will most likely be arraigned today, at which time his name and booking photo will be released to the media.
