The woman guilty of embezzling more than 75 thousand dollars form’s athletic and recreation facilities management office in Allendale won’t see any jail time, according to a Grand Rapids Press report.
44-year-old Lynnea MacGeorge resigned from her job as a GVSU office coordinator in June, during a criminal investigation. Police indicated MacGeorge, hired by the university in 2008, didn’t start taking cash until 20-12.
On Monday, the Allendale resident heard her sentence from Ottawa County Circuit Judge Edward Post: One year of probation and 100 hours of community service. The embezzlement charge to which she pleaded guilty could have netted her up to 10 years in prison.
MacGeorge’s case forced GVSU officials to make changes, increasing audits on cash transactions and using cameras to detect and deter future thefts.
