HOLLAND (WHTC) — A Sweden-based manufacturer with a Holland Township plant, ROL USA, will invest $19.8 million over the next two years to build a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing facilty.
The project will add 51 new jobs to its existing operation, according to Lakeshore Advantage’s executive director, Jennifer Owens
ROL USA produces electric sit-stand table desks and has had a plant in Holland Township for years but the demand of the ergonomic desks is exploding, Owens said.
A company like ROL that manufactures products — for every job they create, typically, an additional three to five jobs are created, for the construction industry, real estate, residential — it’s really a huge trickle-down employer,” she said. “So, this will be a significant job-creator for our community.
She said the jobs will pay “well above” minimum wage. Lakeshore Advantage helped ROL USA get a $300,000 business development grant from the state’s economic development corporation.
She said Lakeshore Advantage worked with ROL USA for nearly a year on the run-up to Wednesday’s announcement, but she said the inital inquiry into expanding dates back to Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s administration.
Some projects come to fruition in just a few months, she said, while others can take years.
