WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – Veteran Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema is urging voters to approve a one-third of a mill request on the March 8 ballot to restore services for the mentally and developmentally challenged.
Rosema, who has announced he will not seek re-election this year, noted “My career has been devoted to keeping Ottawa County and our communities safe and secure. . . . Those with mental or developmental difficulties should have local community options (other than jail) to address their individual and family needs,” he added.
The March 8 millage proposal would help restore some of the $7 million in cuts to Community Mental Health of Ottawa County services. The millage would cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $30 a year or about the cost of one tank of gas. Read more about the millage here. https://www.miottawa.org/Health/CMH/pdf/MillageFAQ.pdf
