HOLLAND (WHTC) — Members of Cub Scout Pack 3048 in Zeeland collected 2,688 bottles of water for Flint on Saturday.
Earlier, WHTC reported:
Cub Scout Pack 3048 in Zeeland will be collecting donations and water for Flint today (Feb. 20) at the Family Fare in Zeeland from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Community care leader R.J. Winter said whatever funds are donated will be used to buy additional water from Family Fare, near the corner of 96th Avenue and Riley Street.
The Cub Scouts will get the water to a Flint distribution Center and next week, Boy Scouts from Michigan’s Crossroads Council will go to Flint and go door-to-door to deliver water to residents.
The effort aligns perfectly with the Scouting mission, he said, which is to be helpful.
“We figure Zeeland’s a pretty good community and we’ll get some support,” Winter said. He was a Scout as a child and is now helping his 9-year-old son through Scouting.
