OLIVE TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC) – Two people were critically injured during a head-on crash on Saturday morning in Olive Township.
Zakery MacDonald, 24, of Allendale was travelling westbound on Port Sheldon east of 112 Ave. when he crossed over the center line and struck 62-year-old Linda Walker of West Olive head-on. Walker was travelling west bound on Port Sheldon when the crash occurred.
Both drivers were pinned inside of their vehicles for a period of time before emergency crews were able to get them out. According to Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, MacDonald and Walker were then transported to Spectrum Hospital and are both listed in critical condition.
Walker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it is unknown whether MacDonald was also wearing one. Snow and ice covered road conditions in addition to strong winds may have contributed to the crash, Austin said.
