HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – For those who want to brave the cold weather this weekend and break out the ice fishing gear, the DNR is holding the annual Free Fishing Weekend today and tomorrow.
All fishing license fees will be waived for Saturday, Feb. 13 and Sunday Feb. 14. This applies to both residents of Michigan and out-of-state visitors. All other fishing regulations will still be in effect.
Free Fishing Weekends are a tradition that many families don’t want to miss, but it’s also important to remember to dress for cold temperatures and to review fishing safety procedures, especially if venturing out onto an ice covered lake. The next 2016 Free Fishing Weekend is scheduled for June 11 & 12.
