GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – A two vehicle crash has sent a 21-year old Hudsonville resident to the hospital. Her name is being withheld pending charges.
According to Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, her 1997 Honda CRV was southbound on 28th Ave when it failed to stop at a flashing red light. The Honda CRV drove directly into the path of 2002 Jeep Cherokee driven eastbound on Port Sheldon Road by Douglas Rietman, 51, of Hudsonville. The Rietman vehicle had the right of way.
The collision forced the CRV to overturn, pinning the 21-year-old Hudsonville resident inside the vehicle for a short time.
Douglas Rietman, 51, of Hudsonville received minor injuries and sought treatment on is own at Metro Hospital. The 21-year old Hudsonville resident was transported by LIFE EMS to Spectrum Butterworth in stable condition.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol was a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
