HOLLAND (WHTC) — City of Holland employees will get diversity training next week. Trainer and social justice advocate Calvin Terrell will lead a public session Monday night at Herrick District Library.
Terrell, founder of the Arizona-based Social Centric Institute, specializes in helping people create communities that actively practice diversity, equity and justice building.
Holland’s human relations coordinator, Esther Fifelski, says Terrell’s talks keep adults and high schoolers’ attention. His clients have included school districts, cities and Harpo, Oprah Winfrey’s company.
Fifelski said Terrell’s appearance is the first of the three-speaker series on racial equity and community, leading up to Holland’s Community Reading Project, which this year features Claudia Rankine’s “Citizen: An American Lyric.”
Terrell’s workshop is free and set for 7 p.m. Monday (Feb. 15) at Herrick District Library, 300 S. River Ave.
