MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – Classes will be cancelled again today in Muskegon Heights because of shootings after a Tuesday night basketball game that put four in the hospital.
Police say 21-year-old Clarence McCaleb went to his car, grabbed a gun and shot into a group, wounding three. Then he fled right towards a Muskegon Deputy who shot McCaleb when he raised his gun at the deputy. McCaleb was wheeled into a court room and charged with multiple assault and gun charges.
School Supt. Alena Zachery Ross says they had additional security at the game because they had gotten tips on social media there might be trouble.
Interim Chief Joseph Thomas became an internet sensation telling reporters that the police are taking back the streets. https://youtu.be/dI3jJB8HEas All of the teens shot Tuesday night have now been discharged from the hospitals after receiving treatment.
