2/8 Monday: Winter Knickerbocker Film Series: “Mustang”- “Mustang” is France’s official 2015 submission to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Best Foreign Language Film. It takes place in a remote village in Turkey where five orphaned sisters are denied their independence by their strict adult guardians after they are caught socializing with male classmates. The close-knit siblings rebel against tight restrictions, and fight for a future in which they are free to make their own choices. 2/9 Tuesday: Hope College Joint Faculty Recital: Andrew Le & Huw Lewis at Jack H. Miller Center for the Arts- Both artists are well known to the Holland area through their solo performances, work with the Holland Symphony Orchestra and numerous outreach events. 221 Columbia Ave., Holland; 7:30pm; Free.
2/10 Wednesday: Hope College Women’s Basketball vs. Rochester MI at DeVos Fieldhouse- Come cheer on the Lady Dutch! 222 Fairbanks Avenue, Holland Twp; 7:30pm; Adult GA $7; under 18 years old GA $5; 5 years old and under FREE.
2/11 Thursday: Daddy Daughter Dance at Macatawa Bay Middle School- Dads, uncles, brothers, grandpa and beyond – bring your special lady (Kindergarten – 5th Grade) out for a Valentines Date Night Out of dancing and fun with Holland Township Recreation at our annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Thursday, February 11th. The dance will be from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Macatawa Bay in the Cafeteria. Light refreshments will be provided, each lady will receive a flower, and the couple will have a special keepsake picture taken to remember the fun night!. 2/12 Friday: “The Good Soul of Szechuan” at West Ottawa Performing Arts Center- The West Ottawa Theater Department will present “The Good Soul of Szechuan” for one weekend only. This play, written by Bertolt Brecht and translated by David Harrower, is a parable about a basic human issue: how to be a good person in an imperfect, money-centered, class-divided society. All seating will be on the stage of the WO Performing Arts Center in a thrust seating arrangement. Therefore, only a limited number of seats are available for each performance. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office. All seats are reserved. RATED: PG-13. 1024 136th Ave., Holland Twp; 7:30pm; $8.00 (All Seats Reserved).
2/13 Saturday: Sweetheart Snowshoe Shuffle at DeGraaf Nature Center- This Valentine’s Day fundraiser will feature wine and cheese and a romantic torch lit trail. Hot chocolate, baked goods and live music too. If there is enough snow, we will provide snowshoes. For adults 21 and over only. Fee: $20 per person. This fundraising event supports the nature education programs offered to area students as well as Phase II renovations . No registration required. 600 Graafschap Road, Holland; 6pm-9pm; $20 couple.
2/14 Sunday: Valentines Day Specials at Local Holland Restaurants- Check out the specials going on at Butch’s Dry Dock, Hops at 84 East, Boatwerks, Alpen Rose and more! Special will vary. Go to Holland.org/events for more information.
