HOLLAND (WHTC) — With the countdown underway for Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State speech tonight, 26th District State Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker expects a mix of good and bad news.
The state’s overall financial outlook is good, she said, but Detroit Public Schools’ budget does not.
“Detroit Public Schools is looking to run out of money in the next four months,” she said, adding the state officials must answer this question: “Do we as a state let them go bankrupt or not?”
“And the governor is also dealing with the Flint water crisis,” Schuitmaker said. Investigations into the city, state and federal records are forthcoming, she said.
