Receiver Appointed in Kandu Liquidation

GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Van Allsburg has appointed Lansing-based attorney Thomas Woods as receiver to handle the liquidation of the assets of Kandu Industries. The non-profit company had trained and employed developmentally disabled adults until ceasing operations on September 30^th. Kandu officials cited Medicaid funding cuts from the Ottawa County Department of Community Mental Health as a reason for their financial distress, with Sheriff’s detectives called in to look over the company’s books. US Bank has taken Kandu to court over non-payment of loans.
