12/28 Monday: Backyard Bird Feeding at the Outdoor Discovery Center- What are the best seeds to feed birds? What combination of feeders is going to have the greatest draw for bird diversity at backyard feeders? Learn from a naturalist the do’s and do not’s of backyard bird feeding including some do-it-yourself tips. Registration is required. 4214 56th Street, Holland; 6-7pm; $4 per person or Free to members.
12/29 Tuesday: Live Nativity at the Critter Barn- pend time with your friends and family around a beautiful Live Nativity, surrounded by sheep, goats, and even angels. Listen to Christmas Carols and the Christmas story from Luke as it is read by children. Visit rooms full of wonderful animals and a display of photos from Bethlehem, Galilee, where Jesus Christ was born and where he lived. Make Christmas come alive with the telling of the story of Jesus Christ’s birth, photographs of Israel where Christ lived, inspirational music and costumed characters. 9275 Adams St, Zeeland; 11am-6pm; Donations Appreciated.
12/30 Wednesday: Holland Arts Council Exhibit: RePrize- The Arts Council invited Lakeshore artists to display their work from November 12 through January 8. Those who didn’t get make it to ArtPrize or didn’t get to see all of our local artists’ work can visit the Arts Council for a taste of the ArtPrize experience right downtown Holland. In the fourth annual nod to Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize, the Arts Council has invited local participants of this year’s event to display their entries in our gallery. The exhibition gives us an opportunity to enjoy ArtPrize if we missed the big event and a chance to see local artists’ work in one location.This year’s artists include Alla Dickson, Antoinette Houtman, Ario Mashayekhi, Carolyn Stich with Freedom Village, Christine Towner, Craig Geiser, Daryl Bruischat, Jessica Bohus, Karin Nelson, LeeAnn Frame, Linda Rizzolo, Michelle Calkins, Tim Norris and Patti Opel, Timothy Rowe, Tony Reidsma, Wendy Little and William Randall. 150 E 8th St, Holland; 10am-6pm; Free.
12/31 Thursday: New Year’s Eve at CityFlatsHotel- CitySēn Lounge will again be offering drinks and live music to help ring in the New Year for you and your friends! Drink specials will be available throughout the night along with a midnight champagne toast. And enjoy a special New Year’s Eve dinner menu before the festivities at CityVū Bistro atop CityFlatsHotel (reservations required). 1/2 Saturday: Winter Market at Eighth Street Market Place- Enjoy the Outdoor Winter Market on the first & third Saturdays of January, February, March & April – beginning January 2! Patrons are invied to bundle up and visit vendors at the Winter Market in the south Civic Center parking lot located off Pine Avenue. Westbound 8th Street will remain open during the Winter Market.**Bridge Cards, Double Up Food Bucks, Project Fresh and Senior FRESH will not be accepted.
