ALLENDALE TWP, MI (WHTC) – A Dearborn man has been charged with a series of home invasions that occurred in Allendale Township.
Captain Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department say 21-year-old Darryl Emil Broadnax was caught when a responding deputy spotted the suspect in the 4500 block of Lake Michigan Drive after he tried to break into an apartment. The deputy saw that the suspect had stolen items on him and arrested him. Police have recovered and returned about $2,000 of stolen property.
Investigators believe the Allendale man had targeted a total of five apartments on Sunday. Broadnax has been charged with three counts of second-degree home invasion and a count of possession of marijuana. They say the suspect could be responsible for up to 12 break-ins in the area in the last couple of months.
Broadnax had moved to Allendale from Dearborn and had been a student at Grand Valley State University. He is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on a $21,000 bond.
