NORTON SHORES, MI (WHTC) – Whether or not three stalking incidents in Muskegon County are related remain to be seen, as the second such situation of a driver in a white van approaching a lone student in the Mona Shores district occurred yesterday.
A 12-year-old middle school student claimed that a white minivan followed her as she was walking home in the area of Wickham Drive and Columbus Avenue around 2:50 PM. A man wearing a hat was beckoning her, but she refused and arrived home safely. The girl described the vehicle as a early 2000 model minivan with rust on the hood near the headlights and a broken grill.
On Tuesday, a 15-year-old Mona Shores High student claimed that a black man in his 40’s, balding and with a grizzly beard, tried to lure her into his white van with rust around the passenger side rear wheel as she was waiting for a school bus at the corner of Grand Haven and Mount Garfield roads. She refused and the van drove off when the bus arrived.
The following afternoon, a 10-year-old Orchard View student claimed that a woman in a white van offered candy as she was standing at a bus stop at the corner of Marquette Avenue and Sheridan Road. The girl refused and the woman drove off when someone approached.
At this point, no suspects are in custody, and investigators believe that the two Norton Shores incidents are “possibly related,” but the Muskegon Township incident is not. Any tips to Norton Shores Police or Muskegon County Silent Observer (231-722-7463) are welcome.
