WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – The Ottawa County Circuit Court celebrates youngsters getting new families in the annual Adoption Day festivities at the Fillmore Street Administrative Building this morning at 9 AM. Judges Mark Feyen and Kent Engle will preside over some adoption finalization proceedings, followed by a public reception. This is part of a statewide initiative aiming to help place displaced youths in “a loving, forever home,” according to Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Young. According to the latest statewide numbers, about 13 thousand children are in Michigan’s foster care system.
