HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Slick roads from heavy rainfall this morning caused a four-vehicle crash in the early morning hours shortly after 4 a.m.
According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, a semi with a trailer attached was turning from U.S. 31 onto southbound Lincoln Avenue when a northbound garbage truck struck the semi’s trailer, spinning it around. When the trailer came to a rest, it spanned all lanes of Lincoln Avenue.
Two other cars were also struck.
U..S. 31 was shut down for about 30 minutes until the garbage truck was removed, police said. Lincoln Avenue was shut down until about 6 a.m. Special equipment was needed to remove the trailer, which had its rear set of wheels knocked out from underneath the trailer by the garbage truck..
